Dubai announces the construction of 550-meter supertall tower opened.
Dubai Holding, state-owned investment firm, has released details of a huge post-expo construction mega-project. It will include a 1,804 feet (550-meter) high tower and it will be taller than One World Trade Center in New York.
The tower is called Burj Jumeira and is located at the Al Sufouh area of Dubai close to the Burj Al Arab. According to the project details announced, it will be surrounded by a mixed-use, residential and commercial zone dubbed “Downtown Jumeria.”
Construction of the Burj Jumeira is set to begin immediately and the first phase would be completed in 2023.
Burj Jumeira’s design is expected to be inspired by desert dunes and oases according to Dubai Holding.
Perhaps the tower’s most distinctive feature is its base. There’s plans for an amphitheater within the thumbprint for cultural events, as well as a water fountain.
