At least six people were killed, three injured in a fire that broke out in a historic building in the center of Moscow, the Russian Investigative Committee reported.

The fire started in a fifth-floor apartment of a seven-floor historic building on Nikitsky Boulevard, 12. According to reports, the apartment belongs to the daughter of a famous Russian musician, Yuri Bashmet. The woman wasn’t injured.

The fire broke out at 01.40 am local time, and was contained at around 05.00 am. 42 people were evacuated, 8 of which were children. A criminal investigation was launched to determine the cause of the fire.
