An earthquake with a 5.8 magnitude registered in the northwest of Greece.

There are no reports of casualties or serious damage.

According to the Athens Institute for Geodynamics the epicenter of the earthquake was located 14 kilometers from the city of Preveza and 294 kilometers from Athens. It was at the depth of 70 miles. No tsunami danger was issued. It was followed by a slight tremor.

At the same time, Mayor Pervez Christos Baylis admittered that recent earthquake with the magnitude of 4.4 occurred not long ago.

Greece is prone to earthquakes. Most cases do not cause serious damage, but a 5.9 magnitude quake near Athens in 1999 took life of 143 people.
