A teacher is accused of sexual abuse and beating two pupils of a secondary Catholic high school in the Pilsen region.

Yesenia Rodriguez, 27, allegedly sexually abused a 14-year-old boy and made physical contact with a 13-year-old boy at St. Procopius school,  where she has taught since 2014, according to statements from the Chicago Police and the Archdiocese of Chicago.

Rodriguez was suspended from work and “will stay away from school until this issue is resolved,” the Archdiocese advised.

Rodriguez from the Western City area sexually abused a 14-year-old student on May 1, 2018, police said.

According to the police, she was also beating a 13-year-old student at school from September 15, 2018 to January 25, 2019. These incidents allegedly occurred in 1800 on South Allport Street.

Rodriguez was arrested on Monday afternoon and on Wednesday had to go on bail, police said.

The statement said that the Department for Children and Family Affairs reported the arrest and charges to the Archdiocese.
