Justin Trudeau, Prime Minister of Canada, said his government would allocate $ 53 million to ‘the urgent needs of Venezuelans’.

He stated this on Monday, February 4, during the Lima Summit in Ottawa.

According to Trudeau most of the funds will be transferred to trusted partners and neighboring countries to support Venezuela.

Venezuela was embroiled in the political crisis through the confrontation between the regime of President Nicholas Maduro and the opposition leader, ‘acting president,’ Juan Guaido, supported by democratic countries headed by the United States.

The political crisis has aggravated the shaky economic situation in the country. From 2013, when Maduro came to power, Venezuela was hit by the economic crisis, hunger and hyperinflation. Nearly three million people left the country.
