Early this morning, the air temperature has dropped so much as to make it the coldest January 30 in the city in the entire history of observations.

The National Meteorological Service said that by 4 o’clock in the morning it was already minus 19 degrees, which would exceed the last record daily minimum – minus January 15, 1966.

According to weather forecasters, the air temperature will drop throughout the day.

They also reported that the lowest record in the entire history — the lowest temperature ever recorded in the city — is minus 27 degrees. It was recorded in 1985.

Experts explained that the minimum level today is expected to range from minus 20 to minus 28 degrees.

Forecasters remind that the warning about wind chill will last until the morning of the next for northern Illinois and northwestern Indiana. Expect wind from minus 30 to minus 60 degrees.
