The inquiries for  measles remedy has risen sharply in Washington County, where this year the highly contagious virus is associated with more than 50 incidents of the illness, involving  people who have previously avoided vaccinations.

As stated by to the state health department, orders for two types of measles medicines in Clark County increased by almost 500 percent in January compared with the same month last year, from 530 doses to 3,150.

Regional clinics are trying to keep up with the sudden inquiries , mainly among parents of children who have not been vaccinated.

The orders include only state-supplied medicines requested under the federal “Vaccines for Children” program, which provides free vaccinations for children who otherwise could not afford them.

According to officials, since January 1, 50 incidents of measles have been reaffirmed in Clark County, and another 11 incidents are assumed. The flare in the Pacific Northwest involves one reaffirmed incident in King County, where Seattle is located, and four in Multnomah County, which involves Portland, Oregon.

Studies have reaffirmed that vaccines do not cause autism, as often referred to by parents who refuse vaccinations. Others object to the timing and combinations of vaccines and from compulsory vaccination of their children.
