The U.S. is focused on “cutting off” the Venezuelan authorities, headed by President Nicolas Maduro, from all sources of income, said the adviser to the U.S. president on national security, John Bolton.
At the same time, the U.S. declared its readiness to provide humanitarian aid to Venezuela in the amount of $20 million.
The day before, Washington announced the President’s recognition of opposition leader Juan Guaido, demanding Maduro to resign his powers, preventing violent actions against the opposition.
Russia warned the U.S. against military intervention in Venezuela.
On Wednesday, violent clashes between protesters and police began in Caracas.
