Witch hunters murdered a woman in India and her four children, including a 10-month-old baby.

According to the investigator, village residents broke into the house of a woman in the state of Odisha in eastern India and beat her children with agricultural tools, and then threw their bodies into a well. Six people were arrested and charged with murder and other crimes under the Odisha law on the prevention of witch hunting.

Police is advising the men suspected that the mother was a witch and was responsible for the death of a young girl.

‘They confessed that they committed murder because of witchcraft,’ said the investigator.

He added that the complaints of the victim’s husband, who was absent on the day of the murder of his family, prompted them to attack a woman with children.

‘In the coming days, two or three more people may be arrested,’ the investigator advised.
